iPhone: Minigore

Minigore is a awesome game for the iPhone. It is an addictive survival game in which you play as John Gore, but in the Christmas episode (episodes are new versions) onwards you can unlock and buy new characters for kills or using the iPhone 3.0 In-App purchase system.

As you progress in the game the more furries (the little monsters) attack you, until eventually nearly your entire screen if covered. If you get bored waiting to get to the challenging bit you can jump straight into the action using the expert and insane modes. These modes work by when you get to the 2000 points milestone you unlock expert and 6000 points for insane, then you can select those modes which jumps you straight to 2000 points or 6000 points at the beginning of your game, meaning you do not have to go through the worming up at the beginning as normal.

19th August 2009 – A good day – PS3 Slim , Quake Live

Yesterday, the 19th of August had two gaming developments. Firstly Quake Live was released for Mac and Linux (a post will arrive shortly) and Sony released the PS3 Slim.

The new PS3 Slim has a few new features. Firstly it’s smaller, it might have a faster processor , it weighs less and uses less power AND it’s cheaper. If you want to know more about the PS3 Slim you should go over to Engadget’s PS3 Slim page for future developments here.

EVE Online: Apocrypha

EVE Online is an MMORPG set in space. It has very good graphics and a fairy complex game system. With a wealth of options and things to do, it would almost be the perfect game except for the minor issue of cost, at whopping € 14.95 per month. There is however a 14 day free trial and this should be enough to convince you that it is well worth the cost.

The graphics are stunning, needing a big-ish screen to fully appreciate them. The title easily competes with other titles like World of Warcraft and Warhammer online.

The game runs on Windows and Mac OSX with complete compatibility.

Dawn of War: Dark Crusade – Move computer

The other day I got a new computer, when the time came to install my games I wanted to keep my saved games. After a lot of searching I couldn’t find an answer, only solutions for XP but none for Windows Vista or Windows 7 . And as I was moving from Vista to 7 that was a BIG problem.

I found that the files in Vista and 7 where kept in : “C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War – Dark Crusade“. But the folder “AppData“ where the game files are kept is a hidden folder. So you have to set show hidded files/folders in folder options, if you don’t know how to set this goto my guide here: http://blog.thecoolestgames.co.uk/2009/08/show-hidden-files-and-folders-xp-vista-7/ .

All you have to do is copy the “profiles” folder and overwrite it into the new installation.

If you want to copy it in XP (this hasn’t been tested) the files are in “C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War – Dark Crusade\”

Transfer to Vista and 7:

1) Install Dark Crusade on new PC.

2) Copy files from “C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War – Dark Crusade/Profiles“on Vista and 7 or in XP “C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War – Dark Crusade\Profiles”

3) Put the copyed files into “C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War – Dark Crusade/Profiles”

Transfer to XP:

1 & 2) See above Transfer to Vista and 7

3) Put the copyed files into”C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War – Dark Crusade\Profiles”

Show hidden files and folders – XP, Vista, 7

Hidden files and folders are usually used to hide certain information from casual users who don’t want to see the inner workings of the cmoputer, these are used in some games to hide config files and saved games. In this post I’ll show you how to view hidden files and folders:

iPhone: Crazy Penguin Catapult

Crazy Peguin Catapult is a fun little iPhone game which comes in a free and paid flavor. You baiscly catapult penguins to knock out, and defeat the evil Polar Bears who are holding penguins captive in cadges! There are two stages to most levels, except special levels. After you select a level you have to catapult your penguins into the battle field, then you go into to actual “dropping-ground”. You select, by tapping anywhere on the screen, when the penguins will be dropped!

On final level you have to kill the guard polar bear, but he will keep on moving out the way!

iPhone: Chess with Friends

Chess with Friends is a free game for iPhone and iPod. It is a turn based internet multiplayer chess game that can be played over a long period if time. The best thing about it is that your opponent doesn’t have to be online to play. Simply invite them to a game and they will get an email to accept that challenge, if you haven’t played before, them make the first move. Later on when Player 2 checks Chess with Friends it will say that it is his/hers turn. Once they have completed there turn the same thing happens with Player 2 until the game ends! It is avaliable at the App Store for FREE!

Call of Duty: World at War

Call of Duty: World at War is one of most amazing WWII games! One of the things that makes it so good is it’s online play feature. Being able to play with other users, worldwide really makes the game a lot more interesting. It’s on all the consoles, except DS, and has been done really well.

The story line is follows the lives of two soldiers. One of a US soldier in the Pacific Theater and the other in Russia in the push to Berlin. It uses the same game engine as CoD: 4 but with a few graphical improvements.

The game doen’t only let you play as a human, but it lets you drive tanks and fly planes. It really brings you into the action with the amazing sound, you can hear everything and the sound is never glitches.

On Wii it allows you to use the Wii Zapper and the commands are mapped really well on all of the platforms.

AQWorlds: The Story Begins!

Artix Entertainment has just released the Prolouge to the story of AQWorlds, their MMORPG written in flash. It starts with a funny introduction movie and a strange story line about a bookstore.

You then have to save the Princess from the Dragon. Then it turns out that you have to save the Dragon from the Princess.
Next up you have to travel to the city of Battleon, but unfortunatly thats: “Coming Soon”. The Book of Lore (You get that at the bookstore) tells us that after that you have to Travel to Swordhaven, Recieve a Reward from the King, and mmn, oh ye, Doom, Destruction and the End Of the World as we know it (OMG!). So, um, nothing much.
